Possession: The 1v1 football quiz duel
Possession is a real-time football quiz you play head-to-head against another person. Instead of racing a clock alone, you win the ball by answering faster and more accurately than your opponent, and keeping possession is how you create chances and score goals before full time. It turns a trivia quiz into an actual match.
Create a room and invite a friend, or get matched with a rival looking for a game. Every question is a battle for the ball: answer well and you keep pressing forward, slip up and your opponent takes over. It is quick, competitive, and built for the kind of football arguments that are more fun when there is a scoreline attached.
How to play Possession
- Create a room and share the code, or get matched with an opponent.
- Answer each football question faster and more accurately than your rival to win the ball.
- Hold possession to build attacks and turn them into goals.
- Outscore your opponent before full time to win the duel.
The monthly club race
Before your first duel you pick a club to represent. That choice is not cosmetic: every goal you score in a duel is banked towards your club's total for the current month, and all those totals are published as a live table on the Possession stats page. You are not only playing for yourself, you are playing for whichever badge you picked.
The club sitting top when the month ends wins the race, and the reward lands the following month: the winning club gets its own themed PriceTag and TimeLineup games, built from that club's real transfers and its real history, playable by everyone for the whole month. A club with a handful of committed players can win it outright, because the margins at the top are usually a few goals.
You can change club whenever you like, but goals stay with the club you were representing when you scored them. Picking the same club as your friends is the fastest way to climb, since every duel either of you plays adds to the same total.
Tips to score higher
Speed wins the ball: Possession rewards quick, confident answers. When you know it, lock it in. Hesitating hands the initiative to your opponent even when your answer would have been correct.
Don’t force the risky ones: A wrong answer can cost you the ball at a bad moment. If a question is a coin flip, a considered answer is often better than a rushed guess that gifts your rival an attack.
Warm up with a friend: Playing rooms against people you know is the fastest way to learn the rhythm of winning and losing possession before you take on matched opponents.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a second player?
Possession is a 1v1 duel, so you play against another person: either a friend you invite with a room code, or an opponent you get matched with.
How do I invite a friend?
Create a room and share the generated code or the room link. Your friend enters the same code to join, then the host kicks off. The match does not start automatically, so the joiner waits a moment on the lobby screen while the host starts it.
What does picking a club do?
The club you choose is the side you represent for the month. Every goal you score in a duel is banked towards that club's total in the monthly club race, and the club on top when the month ends wins the following month's themed PriceTag and TimeLineup games. You can change club at any time, but goals stay with the club you scored them for.
What decides who wins?
Winning possession with fast, accurate answers lets you build attacks and score. The player with more goals when full time arrives wins the duel.
